Kicking off its inauguaral season this year, TaoArts Chamber Music Festival is a newly-formed annual spring chamber music festival that brings the highest caliber concert music to the Washington metropolitan area. "Tao" 涛 means "big wave" in Chinese; through inventive programming, local outreach, and stellar performances, we seek to make a big splash and foster cultural connections through the performance of solo and chamber music.
The TaoArts musicians are instrumentalists from around the world with independent successful musical careers as soloists, chamber musicians, and large ensemble players. They are prizewinners in many important international competitions and collaborators at prestigious music festivals, such as the Marlboro Music Festival, the Steans Institute at Ravinia, Chamberfest Cleveland, Kneisel Hall, and the Tanglewood Music Festival. They are former students of the Curtis Institute of Music, the New England Conservatory, the Royal Academy of Music in London, the Peabody Conservatory, and Harvard University.
As ardent advocates of chamber music, we believe that music is a living cultural asset that requires passionate and tireless dedication, reinvention, and advocacy. Our festival seeks to foster those values in the community through live performance, educational outreach, and community building.
